Planning Your Wedding Food and Drink with COVID-19 in Mind

Planning a wedding during this COVID-19 pandemic raises a lot of concern for everyone’s safety. It will require that careful planning of every aspect of the wedding to meet the health guidelines set up by our health experts.

The aspect of food and drinks for the entertainment of your guests is not left to chance. That is why caterers have done a great deal to balance the safety precautions with providing delicious meals for you and your guests.

Though health experts have held to the claim that there is no evidence to prove that food is a medium for the transmission of the COVID-19, you still shouldn’t be careless with your health while you entertain your guests with food and drinks.

We’ll be showing you how expert caterers have adjusted their services to meet the COVID-19 safety guidelines.

  • Catering Staff, Procedures, and Protocols

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we all now observe new rules and regulations. They were set up by local and state authorities to curb the spread of the pandemic.

These rules have made caterers adjust their procedures right from the point of preparing the food to when they serve your guests.

Catering staff has also taken the health precautions seriously by making changes to how they work. They now wear gloves and face masks during work, adequately sanitize hands, check the temperature of a team, practice social distancing, etc.

  • Bar Services and Cocktail Hour

For the bar services, you will meet plexiglass between you and the bartender when you head to the bar for a drink.

The plexiglass is to protect you, the bartender, and the bar glassware. You are also expected to wear your face mask when going to the bar.

During the cocktail hour, catering services have adjusted the system such that your guests don’t have to leave their tables to visit food stations or sample pass hors d’oeuvres.

The hors d’oeuvres are individually pre-plated or served in bento boxes.

  • Plated Meals

For the social distancing rules, plated meals are becoming very popular catering services. Most couples also choose this option. However, depending on the safety measures put in place and the size of the wedding attendance, the family-style service is also workable.

The wedding cake and desserts are also pre-plated and served to the guests directly. However, this doesn’t mean your guests don’t get to receive their assortment of treats.

  • Menu Tastings and Buffets are still doable

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly reduced the buffet style and menu tasting, but some caterers still offer these services. It must be noted that this is only possible under strict adherence to health guidelines.

Some well-known caterers allow only outdoor menu tasting or just the couple alone in the absence of their staff.

If you are planning your wedding soon, these are some of the adjustments catering services have made which you need to know about. But you don’t need to worry about all that when you secure the services of professional wedding caterers like us!
